Mr H’s Combi Building – Carmarthenshire
Mr H came to us knowing exactly how he wanted his building to work. The aim was to create two clearly defined spaces - a practical storage area and a separate workshop that could be used comfortably throughout the year, while still maintaining an attractive building that would sit nicely in the garden.
The building chosen was a 7m x 3m (approx. 24'x10') Contractor shed, built using our 20mm deluxe cladding with a 20mm floor, giving the structure extra strength and durability.
To achieve the two-room layout, we installed an internal partition, dividing the building into a dedicated workroom and a storage area. Each section was designed slightly differently depending on how he planned to use the space.

Firstly, he chose the style of windows he wanted. The brief was for a traditional look, with wooden frames and a choice of single and double glazing. He opted for nine-pane Georgian-style windows, which we use in our Murcia Summerhouse, they complement the building nicely and give it a more classic appearance while still providing the benefits of modern glazing.

Once the glazing style had been chosen, it was time to plan what he wanted in each space.
In the storage side, Mr H opted for plenty of natural light. This section includes three single glazed windows along with a set of half-glazed double glazed summerhouse doors, helping to keep the area bright and easy to access.
The workroom side was fitted with a slightly different window arrangement to suit how the space will be used day to day. This section includes two double glazed fixed windows, two double glazed opening windows, and a set of half-glazed double glazed summerhouse doors, providing both light and ventilation when needed.

For the roof, Mr H wanted a long-lasting option that would require very little maintenance. After discussing the available choices, he selected a steel box profile roof in anthracite grey, which provides excellent durability and a clean, modern finish.

The building was installed on a solid, level concrete base that Mr H had arranged to have prepared before our arrival, so a timber frame base was not required. However, as with all of our buildings, we recommended installing timber bearers underneath the floor. These raise the building slightly off the base, helping to improve airflow beneath the floor and providing an additional layer of protection for the timber over time.
The following day, the team returned to insulate and line the building. As both spaces will be used regularly, Mr H chose our insulation package for the walls and roof. This helps regulate the internal temperature and makes the building far more comfortable to use throughout the year, whatever the season.

All in all, the project took two days to complete. The existing base was level and access to the site was straightforward, which allowed the installation to run smoothly.

The finished result is a large, practical building that provides both secure storage and a dedicated workspace - all within one well-designed structure.
